Trifunctional Antibodies
Trifunctional antibodies are proteins that target tumor cells as well as different immune cells – T cells as well as macrophages, dendritic cells and natural killer cells (NK cells) – triggering the destruction of tumor cells. The antibodies were developed by our partner TRION Pharma. Fresenius Biotech is responsible for the clinical development and regulatory approval of the antibodies and also holds the worldwide marketing and distribution rights. The biotechnologically produced antibodies are currently the subject of several clinical trials. A pivotal study of the antibodies in patients with malignant ascites (accumulation of fluid in the abdominal cavity due to spread tumor cells) was completed. Moreover, efficacy is being investigated in ovarian cancer as well as in breast and gastric cancer.
