Fresenius prepares its consolidated financial statements in accordance with the United States Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP).
As from the 2005 fiscal year, Fresenius, as a publicly traded company based in a member country of the European Union, is required to prepare and publish its consolidated financial statements in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) pursuant to § 315a of the German Commercial Code (HGB).
Our largest subsidiary, Fresenius Medical Care, prepares its financial statements in accordance with US GAAP. Therefore, we publish our consolidated financial statement in accordance with US GAAP along with our statutory consolidated financial statements in accordance with IFRS.
Thus we illustrate Fresenius’ business situation to our shareholders in a comparable and transparent manner.
