Networked with others: Using knowledge effectively for the welfare of the patient
The advantage each HELIOS hospital has over individual clinics is that it is able to profit from the knowledge of the other hospitals in the Group. This way each clinic has a stake in the knowledge and progress of the whole Group.
Cross-hospital specialty groups with all the chief physicians of a particular specialty discuss new medical developments in order to then integrate them into everyday medical operations. HELIOS turns departments with very specific expertise into residency centers where employees from other HELIOS hospitals can update and enhance their knowledge and skills.
Promotion of clinical science
HELIOS also promotes scientific activities at its hospitals. In Berlin, for example, HELIOS collaborates with the Max-Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine and Berlin Charité. Research within the group is provided with administrative support by the HELIOS Research Center. For HELIOS, however, research is not an end in itself; rather it is about the exchange of knowledge within the HELIOS Kliniken Group, in order to continue to improve the medical quality at the individual hospitals.
